I try to embrace the positive things that go along with that (craftsmanship, the desire to do better) and quell the negatives (destructive self-talk, inhibition). What helps me the most is to consciously choose to be happy while I'm working and to enjoy the process. I honestly think that the joy can be visible in the work. I will try not to dwell on the fact that I could make these quilts three or four more times each (how did I get so many fabric scraps?!?!?).
